Shubman Sizzles As Gujarat Titans Begin IPL Title Defence In Style
Shubman Gill eclipsed Ruturaj Gaikwad's high-quality knock with a dazzling half-century as Gujarat Titans began their title defence with a convincing five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in the IPL opener in Ahmedabad on Friday. Gaikwad was all class in his 92 off 50 balls before Titans pulled things back in the middle overs to limit Chennai Super Kings to 178 for seven after opting to bowl first in front of a near capacity crowd at the world's largest cricket stadium. In the form of his life over the past three months, Gill played some jaw-dropping strokes in his 63 off 36 balls to set up a fine win for the home team. Titans got home in 19.2 overs.
Gill's opening partner Wriddhiman Saha showed he has still got it as he smashed a couple of sixes and as many fours in his 16-ball 25 that got the Titans going in the run chase.
Gill's best shot of the innings was the back foot punch off CSK's impact player Tushar Deshpande and he followed with a pick up shot over midwicket. Titans' impact player Sai Sudharsan, who was used in place of an injured Kane Williamson, contributed with 22 off 17 balls.
When Gill departed, Titans needed 41 off the last five overs but CSK managed to take the game down to the wire.
It needed a cameo from Rashid Khan (10 not out off 3) to settled the nerves in the Titans dressing room.
Earlier, it was a display of effortless hitting from Gaikwad, who relied on his lofted drives over extra cover and crisp pull shots to collect as many as nine sixes.
Apart from Gaikwad, the only other batter who put the Titans under pressure was Moeen Ali who came up with a 17-ball 23. Ali's flat six off Mohammad Shami on a free-hit ball was the highlight of his cameo.
Gaikwad pulled IPL debutant Joshua Little on his very first ball to set the tone of his innings. That over went for 15 runs and with Shami conceding 17 runs in the following over, CSK got the momentum they were looking for.
Titans' trump card Rashid Khan was introduced in the powerplay and as he often does, he got the wicket that his team was looking for by getting the dangerous looking Ali caught behind.
Rashid's second over saw him getting rid of England Test captain Ben Stokes, who too was caught by wicketkeeper Saha, leaving CSK at 70 for three.
However, the fall of wickets did not make Gaikwad change his game as he kept getting the boundaries. He welcomed Alzarri Joseph into the attack by smashing him for three sixes in the eighth over.
Titans did well to stem the flow of runs in the middle overs and got the wicket of Ambati Rayudu.
Shivam Dube struggled to find the big hits and that put pressure on Gaikwad who was caught in the deep in the 17th over and missed out on a deserving hundred.
Skipper M S Dhoni came out to bat at number eight but still managed to make an impact as he pulled Little for a six before flicking him for a four in the final over, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Williamson injured his knee while fielding at the boundary and limped off the field.
The last five overs yielded 45 runs for CSK.

Watch: Dhoni Turns Back The Clock, Slams Massive Six To Join Elite List
MS Dhoni turned back the clock with a trademark six over deep square-leg during the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. In the very last over of the match, Dhoni took the aggressive route against Joshua Little and heaved the ball for a massive six on the leg side. It was not the end as the veteran wicket-keeper batsman followed it up with a crafty boundary through the same region. It was the push that CSK needed at the end of the innings as they finished on 178/7 after 20 overs.
That's MS Dhoni at the age of 42.

Dhoni ended up scoring an unbeaten 14 off 7 balls with one four and one six.
The six was also extra special for Dhoni as it was his 200th for CSK and he became the fifth cricketer overall to achieve this feat in the competition. Chris Gayle, AB De Villiers, Virat Kohli and Kieron Pollard are the other batsmen who have slammed 200 or more maximums for a single IPL franchise.
Earlier, GT skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to field.
Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed 92 off 50 balls even though wickets fell at regular interval at the other end.
CSK looked on course for a 180 plus total but the GT bowlers bowled well to stem the momentum.
For GT, spinner Rashid Khan (2/26) and pacers Mohammed Shami (2/29) and Alzarri Joseph (2/33) picked two wickets each. Little got one wicket as he castled Ambati Rayudu.

New Zealand vs Sri Lanka, 3rd ODI Live Score Updates
New Zealand vs Sri Lanka, 3rd Odi Live Updates: Keeping an eye at securing automatic qualification for the World Cup, Sri Lanka will look to win the third ODI against New Zealand and hope for some other results to go in their favour. Their hopes took a major blow on Tuesday when heavy rain and gusting winds forced the second ODI against New Zealand to be abandoned without a ball being bowled. Having also lost the first ODI in the three-match series, Sri Lanka are now ninth in the Super League table with 82 points, six points behind West Indies. (LIVE SCORECARD)

Rohit Missing From IPL 2023 Captains' Pic. Fans Troll MI Skipper Heavily
The Indian Premier League on Thursday uploaded a couple of pictures of the team captains standing in front of the trophy ahead of the 16th edition that kicks off on March 31 in Ahmedabad. It is to note that nine out of the ten captains were present in the picture that was shot at the Narendra Modi Stadium, but Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was an absentee. The fans didn't like Rohit missing out on the picture and they trolled him heavily for it.
Here are some of the fans' reactions:

While a match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans will kick off IPL 2023 on March 31, Mumbai Indians play their opening match of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 2 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Rohit-led MI will aim for a record-extending sixth title. They have already bagged the trophy in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 -- all under the captaincy of Rohit.
However, the last edition was a forgettable one for MI as they finished at the bottom of the points table, losing 10 out of 14 games.
Indeed, it was the worst performance by Mumbai Indians as they finished last for the first time ever across all 15 editions.
The side would be hoping that Jofra Archer hits top form in the absence of an injured Jasprit Bumrah as the side aims to turn things around after a horrendous last season.

"New Innovations...": Rohit Sharma On 'Impact Player' Rule In IPL
Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma on Wednesday backed the new "impact player" rule that will come into force in the upcoming Indian Premier League T20 tournament. The regulation will allow a substitute to come in to bat and bowl, but he can only be an Indian unless there are fewer than four overseas players in a team. "It's interesting to have new innovations coming into the game," Rohit told reporters before the IPL season starts on Friday. "Only time will tell what happens and how the team will cope with this new rule, but I like the idea of an impact player coming in and changing your team after the toss."
He said five-time IPL winners Mumbai will "luckily" be able to see how other teams use the new rule since four other matches will be played before their opening game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday.
Other innovations include captains being allowed to announce their XI after the toss -- which decides which team bats first -- and then nominate an impact player from among the five substitutes listed with the playing XI.
Mumbai's new head coach Mark Boucher also welcomed the idea of changing the team after the toss, saying it will be "quite influential". "Especially in India the dew plays a big part if you are playing in night time," the South African said.
Other new rules include teams being able to review umpires' decisions on no-balls and wides using the computerised Decision Review System.

IOC Backs Return Of Russian Athletes As Individuals
Olympic chiefs on Tuesday recommended the return to competition of Russian and Belarusian athletes as individual neutrals, but refused to give a timeline on their potential participation at next year's Paris Olympics. IOC president Thomas Bach said the body's Executive Board had recommended to international federations and international sports event organisers that "athletes with a Russian or a Belarusian passport must compete only as Individual Neutral Athletes".
German Sports Minister Nancy Faeser reacted immediately, calling the recommendation a "slap in the face" for Ukrainian athletes, who she said "deserve the solidarity of international sport".
"International sport must condemn Russia's brutal war of aggression in no uncertain terms. This can only be done with the complete exclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes."
Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Piotr Wawrzyk said it was a "day of shame for the IOC" after the "daily bombings of civilian sites". But Moscow said forcing Russians to compete under a neutral flag would amount to "discrimination".
"The announced criteria for the return to international competitions are unacceptable. This is discrimination on the basis of nationality," Stanislav Pozdnyakov, the head of the Russian Olympic Committee, said as quoted by Russian news agencies.
Among other IOC recommendations -- which Bach said were agreed unanimously, the IOC said "teams of athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport cannot be considered".
Also missing out will be "athletes who actively support the war" as well as "athletes who are contracted to the Russian or Belarusian military or national security agencies".
Bach reiterated that the sanctions against "those responsible for the war, the Russian and Belarusian states and governments", must remain in place, having first been introduced after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
That means Russia and Belarus are unable to organise international sports events on their territory. Additionally, "no flag, anthem, colours or any other identifications whatsoever of these countries displayed at any sports event or meeting, including the entire venue" and "no Russian and Belarusian government or state official can be invited to or accredited for any international sports event or meeting".
'Appropriate time'
Bach, speaking after the executive board meeting in Lausanne, said a decision on athletes from Russia and Belarus taking part in Paris 2024 and the 2026 Winter Olympics, however, would be taken "at the appropriate time".
"The IOC will take this decision at the appropriate time, at its full discretion, and without being bound by the results of previous Olympic qualification competitions," Bach said.
"We want to monitor the implementation of these recommendations as long as possible... to be enabled to take an informed decision."
The board, he said, "did not consider it appropriate to give a timeline... no one knows what's happening tomorrow or in nine months". Bach added the "participation of athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 was not considered either in the consultations or in its deliberations today".
"The IOC expressly reserves the right to decide about their participation at the appropriate time, even if they would be considered to have qualified according to the qualification criteria set by their respective International Federations (IFs).
"The IOC will closely monitor the full implementation of these recommendations by all parties concerned.
"The results of this monitoring procedure will be an important factor in the decision by the IOC concerning the participation of athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport in the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026."
More than 300 active and former fencers had earlier called on Bach, who won Olympic fencing team gold in 1976, to uphold the ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes. The FIE, the world fencing body, ruled this month to allow Russian and Belarusian fencers to return to international competition, becoming the first Olympic sport to reopen its events to athletes from the two countries.
In a hard-hitting letter, the fencers accused Bach and the interim president of their federation, Emmanuel Katsiadakis, of prioritising Russians ahead of Ukrainians and dismissed the notion of neutrality, saying "athletes were and will be instrumentalised for Putin's propaganda".

Christchurch Washout Hits Sri Lanka World Cup Hopes
Sri Lanka's hopes of securing automatic qualification for the World Cup took a major blow on Tuesday when heavy rain and gusting winds forced the second one-day international against New Zealand to be abandoned without a ball being bowled. Steady rain meant the covers stayed on all day at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, with organisers calling the match off at 1630 local time (0330 GMT) with more showers forecast.
As a result the two teams split the points which further damages Sri Lanka's designs on a place in the top eight of the Super League, who automatically qualify for the World Cup in India in October and November.
Having also lost the first ODI in the three-match series, Sri Lanka are now ninth in the table with 82 points, six points behind West Indies.
To make the top eight, Sri Lanka must win the third ODI against New Zealand in three days' time and pray that South Africa lose at least once in their upcoming series against the Netherlands, and that Ireland fail to beat Bangladesh 3-0 when they meet in May.
The teams missing out on the top eight will go into a repechage 10-team tournament in Zimbabwe in June and July from which the final two teams will emerge. New Zealand have already qualified for the World Cup and are now guaranteed to finish as Super League table-toppers even if they lose the third ODI in Hamilton on Friday.
Sri Lanka have lost all three tour games played so far in New Zealand, including a 2-0 whitewash in the Test series.

Cristiano Ronaldo 'Very Important' For Portugal, Says Roberto Martinez
Cristiano Ronaldo remains a "very important" player for Portugal, coach Roberto Martinez said on Sunday after the veteran striker scored a second successive brace in Euro 2024 qualifying against Luxembourg. The 38-year-old opened the scoring for the Euro 2016 winners by turning in Nuno Mendes' header and slotted home another in the 31st minute as Portugal won 6-0. Ronaldo, who also netted twice against Liechtenstein on Thursday, increased his records of most men's international appearances and goals to 198 and 122 respectively. "Cristiano is a unique player in the world, with the highest number of international caps," said Martinez, who has restored Ronaldo to the starting line-up after he was dropped during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
"The experience he has for the dressing room is very important.
"All players have an important role. The younger ones due to their willingness to play and players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Rui Patricio and Bernardo Silva bring experience.
"It's important to have a complete dressing room."
Martinez joined Portugal after the World Cup, replacing Fernando Santos who had been in charge since 2014.
The Spaniard has enjoyed a fine start, with his team already two points clear at the top of Group J having scored 10 goals without reply.
Joao Felix, Bernardo Silva, Otavio and Rafael Leao were all also on the scoresheet in Luxembourg.

Mumbai Indians thrash Delhi Capitals By 7 Wickets, Win Inaugural WPL Title
A late flourish from England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt (60 not out) helped Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by seven wickets in a low-scoring summit clash to become champions of the inaugural Women's Premier League in Mumbai on Sunday. In front of a partisan crowd that filled the Brabourne Stadium here to the brim, Mumbai Indians chased down the target of 131 with three balls to spare to lift the trophy. Opting to bat first, Delhi Capitals suffered a collapse to be reduced to 79 for 9 in 16 overs but posted a respectable total of 131 for 9, thanks to a 52-run partnership for the unbroken 10th wicket between Shikha Pandey (27 not out) and Radha Yadav (27 not out).
It was not an easy run chase for MI but they eventually crossed the line, reaching 134 for 3 in 19.3 overs, with Sciver-Brunt and captain Harmanpreet (37) playing crucial roles.
Sciver-Brunt (60 not out from 55 balls, 7x4), also the Player of the Final, struck her third fifty and finished second behind DC captain Meg Lanning (345) in run-scorers' chart in the WPL with 332 runs.
Harmanpreet (37 from 39 balls, 5x4s) and Sciver-Brunt joined forces when MI were precariously placed at 23 for 2 in the fourth over, and combined their batting prowess to soak the pressure and add 72 runs for the third wicket.
MI needed 45 runs from the last five overs though they had eight wickets in hand then. Sciver-Brunt was 28 off 38 balls at that stage but she struck a flurry of boundaries to help her side cross the line.
In the process, Mumbai Indians recorded their second win over Delhi in three meetings this season, with their bowlers producing a stunning show in the first half.
MI made a shaky start, with Yastika Bhatia (4) hitting straight to deep midwicket for the fourth wicket of the final on a full toss, off Radha Yadav. Jess Jonassen dealt the second blow to Mumbai with Hayley Matthews (13 of 12 balls, 3x4s) chipping one straight to short midwicket.
Earlier, Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav fought back with a counter-attacking 52-run unbeaten stand for the 10th wicket, lifting Delhi to 131 for 9.
Delhi Capitals were off to a rocky start, collapsing from 74 for 3 in the 11th over to 79 for 9 after 16, thanks to devastating show from overseas bowlers Hayley Matthews (4-2-5-3), Isabelle Wong (4-0-42-3) and Amelia Kerr (4-0-18-2).
However, the 52-run stand between Shikha (27 not out from 17 balls) and Radha Yadav (27 not out from 12 balls) took them across the 100-mark and gave them a fighting chance.
Shikha hit three fours and one six in her knock, Radha smashed two boundaries and as many maximums.
Earlier, Matthews, Wong and Kerr had shared a total eight wickets between them to put Mumbai in a strong position.
While the Caribbean all-rounder Matthews took her wickets tally to 16 - highest in the tournament alongside UP Warriorz' Sophie Ecclestone - Wong and Kerr also finished at 15 wickets each.
Saika Ishaque failed to get any breakthrough and ended up with an impressive 15 wickets too.
The final was off to a dramatic start with MI claiming the first three wickets off full-tosses from Wong.
The first two decisions were ruled against the batters by the third umpire.
Shafali Verma (11 off 4 balls, 1x4s, 1x6s) began with a six over long-on and a four on the next ball in the second over from Wong, sliced over backward point to beat the third man.
However, the Delhi dasher was caught at point by Kerr off a full toss from the English bowler which was waist high.
Wong dealt another blow to the Delhi Capitals, again off a surprise full toss with Alice Capsey (0) failing to control her shot. The catch was completed by a stunning diving effort from Amanjot Kaur at extra cover, and left Delhi reeling at 12 for 2 in 1.5 overs.
Jemimah Rodrigues (9 off 8 balls, 2x4s) began with a superb cover drive off the first delivery she faced off Wong and brought out another drive against Sciver-Brunt in the third over. But before that, Lanning smacked two fours on the first two balls to shrug off some pressure.
But Delhi sunk further when a low full toss swinging away from the off stump from Wong, who changed the bowling ends, had Jemimah playing it straight to Hayley Matthews at point.
DC, who were 38 for 3 at the end of the powerplay, were steadied by Lanning and Kapp. At the halfway mark the Capitals were relatively safe at 68 for 3, but the worst was yet to come.
From 74 for 3 in the 11th over, Delhi Capitals collapsed to 77 for 7 after 14 overs with some poor batting and communication in the middle.
Kapp (18 off 21 balls, 2x4s), who hit her first four on the 17th ball she faced, was removed by Kerr in the 11th over with Yastika Bhatia grabbing the catch.
The South African all-rounder added 38 runs for the fourth wicket in 37 balls.
Mumbai Indians, however, made the biggest breakthrough in the 12th over when Delhi's captain and mainstay Lanning was run-out for 35.
Lanning's hesitation to run after Jess Jonassen (2) hurdled a delivery off towards Amanjot at cover cost her dearly, with Bhatia breaking the stumps.
Kerr claimed her second wicket by getting rid of Arundhati Reddy (0), and after Matthews spilled a return catch off Jonassen's bat in the 14th over, she grabbed a similar chance.
Matthews returned to cap off her best spell in the WPL, getting Minnu Mani (2) stumped to take her 15th wicket in the competition, and added one more when she got one to sneak between Taniya Bhatia's (0) bat and pads for her third wicket in the game to leave DC tottering at 79/9.

Captain Powell Powers Windies To Win In Rain-Hit 1st T20I vs South Africa
New West Indies captain Rovman Powell thrashed five sixes as he led his team to a three-wicket victory over South Africa in a rain-shortened first T20I at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Saturday. The match was reduced to 11 overs a side but produced 263 runs and 15 wickets in a frantic contest. Powell, who took over from Nicholas Pooran last month, hit 43 not out off 18 balls as the West Indies chased down a South African total of 131 for eight with three balls to spare.
He said the reduction in overs suited several of his players.
"A lot of the guys in the team are used to the T10 format," he said.
"We know the ball travels so much here, so 130 was gettable."
Opener Brandon King hit 23 off eight balls and Johnson Charles slammed 28 off 14 deliveries as the West Indies made an explosive start, scoring 84 for four in the first six overs.
David Miller clubbed 48 off 22 balls in South Africa's innings.
Wickets fell almost rapidly as boundaries were hit but Miller ensured a competitive total, hitting four fours and three sixes.
He and burly fast bowler Sisanda Magala smacked 47 off 13 balls for the seventh wicket.
Left-arm fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell took two wickets for seven runs in his first two overs but conceded 24 runs in the tenth over as Miller and Magala went on the rampage.
Magala hit a four and two sixes in an unbeaten 18 off five balls.
South African captain Aiden Markram said his team had started badly with both bat and ball.
"To take it to the last over was a great effort from the bowlers," he said.
Anrich Nortje took one for 17 in three overs of high-class fast bowling and Magala took three for 21, including two wickets in the penultimate over.
But spinners Bjorn Fortuin and Tabraiz Shamsi conceded a combined 69 runs off four overs.
The teams meet at the same venue on Sunday.

Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain Qualify For Asian Games
India's High Performance Director (HPD) Bernard Dunne on Saturday confirmed star boxers Nikhat Zareen and Lovina Borgohain have qualified for the Asian Games, which are also the first Olympic Qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Games. For selection to the Asian Games, to be held from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China, the Boxing Federation of India's (BFI) policy states "Athletes who achieve Gold/Silver at World championships will be an automatic selection for the first Olympic qualifier at the Asian Games."
It means Nikhat (50kg) and Lovlina (75kg), who have reached the light flyweight and middleweight final of the ongoing World Championships respectively, have qualified for the continental event.
"Those who win gold or silver here (at the World Championships) are the automatic selection for the Asian Games," Dunne told reporters.
At the Asian Games, women pugilists will compete in five weight categories: 51kg, 57kg, 60kg, 69kg and 75kg. While the Olympics will have six weight classes -- 50kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 66kg and 75kg.
This means the minimum weight (48kg) world champion Nitu Ghanghas and Saweety Boora (81kg), who has also reached the final, will be standby boxers should they decide to change to an Olympic weight class.
"Anybody who is changing weight categories will have to be second or third. But in case something happens to the ones who have qualified, we want our number two and three to be ready," Dunne said.
He also asserted that the new evaluation process is here to stay.
The BFI has done away with the selection trials. According to the new policy, which was created in cooperation with Dunne, boxers will have to undergo an evaluation process instead.
Ahead of the ongoing Women's World Championships, there was a lot of hue and cry over the new policy with three boxers in the national camp -- Manju Rani, Shiksha Narwal and Poonam Poonia -- even moving court due to their non-selection.
"There is no plan for any selection trials in my opinion," Dunne said.
Talking about the new policy, Dunne added, "The big part was to give clarity to the athletes.
"Trials was the old system, but that's only one moment... three three minute rounds decided by judges. But in this new system we, the coaches and I, are monitoring them day in day out. God forbid someone gets ill, or something happens during the trials." Asked if he will encourage boxers to switch to Olympic categories in the run-up to the Paris Games, Dunne said, "We want to empower our athletes, some may want to change weight categories while some may not, that's also fine," Dunne said.
Dunne has been serving in the role for a few months now and he feels he's had to take some hard calls.
"The biggest challenge I have (after becoming the HPD) faced is the decisions I have had to make. For this tournament I have made 12 people happy but 24 unhappy.
"I have no allegiance to anybody, no bias towards any state. I come here with a clear focus to pick the best. It is up to the athletes to show me and the coaches you are the best."

"Hope Shafali Comes In With Clear Mind": Lanning Ahead Of WPL Final vs MI
Meg Lanning's Delhi Capitals may have been the first team to enter the WPL final but the summit clash against Mumbai Indians will be a "massive challenge", a game in which she wants dashing batter Shafali Verma to come in with a clear mind. "Both Mumbai and Delhi have been consistent throughout the tournament. We have had two good contests. I am looking forward to taking on a really good team, they played some really good cricket last night," Lanning told the media during the pre-match press conference at the Brabourne Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
"We know how dangerous they can be, they have got some great players. It is a massive challenge for Delhi, but we are confident as well. We come in having been pushed in a few games which is important, we have not had things going our way and that prepares us really nicely.
"(It is) a high pressure game tomorrow night and we just got to play our best cricket," she added.
"We have played with smiles on our faces and that is what I will be encouraging our girls to do tomorrow night, enjoy the experience, embrace it because who knows if we get back here again so we need to make the most of the opportunity," Lanning said.
Lanning hoped that Shafali, who has smacked two fifties in the inaugural Women's Premier League group stage, comes firing on all cylinders on Sunday night.
"Batting with her has been great fun. She has got a unique style which works for her. She takes the game-on and turns it in our favour. She had a great tournament and is looking in good form heading into the final tomorrow.
"Hopefully she comes in with a clear mind and is ready to take the game on and I can watch from the other end," Lanning said, adding that the aggressive Indian batter has taken pressure off her shoulders at the top of the order.
Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur acknowledged that in Lanning and Shafali, Delhi have a strong opening combination but added that her side have plans against them in place.
"They have the best combination in the whole tournament and they also did well against us in the last game," Kaur said.
Kaur added, "We know what they can do and how dangerous they can be. We have our plans and hopefully we are able to execute them." The India skipper admitted that the mood in the Mumbai Indians camp, a side which won five games on the trot to start their WPL campaign, has been high given that there are many leaders within the group.
"We have many leaders in the camp, people who have captained their team and also been vice-captains. Some of the Indian players like Amanjot (Kaur) did well in South Africa. This makes for a great team environment," Kaur said.
Lanning said fielding will be a key aspect in the final, highlighting that teams that have done well consistently in WPL have fielded well.
"Both teams have got pretty good bowling and batting lineups. You will have to do really well to win, we have not thought it that way," said Lanning when asked if the final of WPL could be a shootout between Delhi's batting and Mumbai's bowling prowess.
"We want to come in and play our best game with both the bat and the ball, and fielding as well which has played a big role in this tournament. I think teams that have done that well have been successful," Lanning said.

WPL Eliminator: Mumbai Indians Book Final Berth With Win vs UP Warriorz
Isabelle Wong (4/15) recorded the first hat-trick of the Women's Premier League after Nat Sciver-Brunt's brutal 38-ball 72 as Mumbai Indians stormed into the final with a 72-run drubbing of UP Warriorz in the Eliminator in Mumbai on Friday. The final of the inaugural WPL will be played between the two best sides that occupied the top two spots of the points table with 12 points each, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, on Sunday at the Brabourne Stadium. Having set a daunting 183-run target, Mumbai Indians blew away what had been a resolute top and middle-order of the UP Warriorz, with Wong producing a superb hat-trick in the 13th over to seal the outcome in favour of her side.
After removing the dangerous Alyssa Healy (11) early and getting rid of an on-song Kiran Navgire (43), Wong cleaned up Simran Sheikh (0) and Sophie Ecclestone (0) to take a wicket each on the second, third and the fourth deliveries of her third over to produce a match-winning spell.
UP Warriorz were shot out for a mere 110 in 17.4 overs.
Navgire waged a lone battle for UP Warrioz with an entertaining 27-ball 43 with four fours and three sixes, but none of the other batters troubled the scorers in what turned out to be a one-sided contest.
UP Warriorz were off to a disastrous start, losing openers Healy and Shweta Sehrawat (1) inside the first three overs.
While Saika Ishaque (2.4-1-24-2) produced a wicket-maiden second over that included the scalp of Sehrawat, Wong got Healy caught by her counterpart Harmanpreet Kaur at mid-off in the third.
Mumbai dealt another severe blow on the UP Warriorz when batting mainstay Tahlia McGrath (7) was run out in the fifth over while trying to steal a single from a packed off-side field.
With their backs pressed firmly against the wall, Navgire took the attack to Mumbai with two fours and a six off Ishaque and Grace Harris also got a four. The sixth over yielded 20 runs for UP Warriorz, who were 46/3 at the end of the powerplay.
Navgire also got a lifeline when she tried to clear the ropes again, off Amelia Kerr, with Hayley Matthews (1/13) spilling a regulation chance.
Navgire and Harris' fourth-wicket stand for 35 runs was eventually broken in the eighth over when Sciver-Brunt claimed her first wicket, getting the latter caught by Wong for 14. At the halfway stage, UP Warriorz were 63/4.
Navgire then smacked two sixes off Kerr and Deepti Sharma (16) got a four to collect 19 runs from the 12th over, but Mumbai Indians broke their stand soon.
Navgire perished after playing one straight to deep midwicket, after a quickfire 43, off Wong. The English bowler struck on the next delivery to clean up Sheikh and had Ecclestone chop one on to her wickets to complete her hat-trick.
Earlier in the first innings, Sciver-Brunt's blistering unbeaten 72 powered Mumbai Indians to a daunting total.
Sciver-Brunt was at her brutal best with the bat, clobbering nine fours and two sixes to make an unbeaten 72 and certainly made the most of an early lifeline when she was on six, with Sophie Ecclestone (2/39) dropping a regulation catch off Rajeshwari Gayakwad at mid-off.
UP Warriorz controlled the first half of the knockout clash largely through their spin bowlers, not allowing Mumbai batters to get away or notch up any big individual totals, barring Sciver-Brunt, who seemed unstoppable.
The right-handed Sciver-Brunt provided much-needed impetus late for Mumbai Indians in the company of Kerr (29 off 19 balls, 5x4s), adding 60 runs for the fourth wicket.
Having added 78 runs from overs 5-15, Mumbai Indians smashed 66 runs in the last five overs to put up a stiff total.
The likes of Yastika Bhatia (21), Matthews (26) and Kaur (14) got starts but UP Warriorz kept control for the large part of the game after an erratic start.

Watch: Mumbai Indians' Issy Wong Bags Historic First-Ever WPL Hat-trick
Mumbai Indians' 20-year-old pacer Issy Wong created history in the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League, bagging the tournament's first-ever hat-trick in the Eliminator clash against UP Warriorz. Issy stepped up when her franchise needed her the most, taking a total of 4 wickets for just 15 runs in 4 overs as Mumbai went on to beat UP by a whopping 72 runs in the virtual semi-final on Friday. In the process, Mumbai entered the final of the tournament, setting up a date with Delhi Capitals.
Wong, who is from England, bagged the big wickets of Alyssa Healy, Kiran Navgire, Simran Shaikh and Sophie Ecclestone -- with the last three coming in succession -- to complete her treble. Here's the video:

Earlier,
Nat Sciver-Brunt's half-century helped Mumbai Indians post 182/4 against UP Warriorz in the Eliminator.
Sciver-Brunt slammed an unbeaten 72 off 38 deliveries while Melie Kerr played a knock of 29 runs in 19 balls. For UP Warriorz Sophie Ecclestone bagged two wickets while Parshavi Chopra and Anjali Sarvani called one each.
When the Right-hander Nat Sciver-Brunt then came out to bat. The duo of Brunt and Matthews played cautiously, slamming boundaries at regular intervals.
Matthews's enterprising knock was cut short after 16-year-old Parshavi Chopra produced a stunning delivery to send back the Mumbai batter. She scored 26.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur came out to the middle at the fall of Matthew's wicket. Brunt then opened up, as she slammed Parshavi for back-to-back sixes and boundaries in the 12th over of the game, garnering 16 runs.
Sophie Ecclestone then came up with a fine delivery to remove Harmanpreet for 14 in the 13th over.
Melie Kerr replaced the skipper at the crease. Sciver-Brunt continued her red-hot form as she slammed UP bowlers all around the ground while also stealing singles and turning the strike over. Sciver-Brunt brought up her much-needed fifty off just 26 balls, in the 16th over of the innings.
Sciver-Brunt slammed Rajeshwari Gayakwad for back-to-back boundaries in the 17th over, scoring 13 runs.
Kerr, however, fell prey to Ecclestone at the score of 29. New batter Pooja Vastrakar and Sciver-Brunt hammered Deepti Sharma for 18 runs, slamming two sixes and one four in the last over, to guide their team's total to 182/4 in 20 overs.

Nikhat, Lovlina, Nitu, Saweety Cruise Into World Championships Finals
On a delightful day for Indian boxers, the quartet of Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Lovlina Borgohain (75kg), Nitu Ghanghas (48kg) and Saweety Boora (81kg) marched into the finals of the Women's World Championships with stellar wins In New Delhi on Thursday. While Nikhat out-punched Rio Olympics bronze medallist Ingrit Valencia of Colombia 5-0, two-time Worlds bronze medallist Lovlina beat Li Qian of China 4-1 to book her maiden appearance in the title round of the prestigious championships.
The other two contests went down to the wire and bout reviews had to be taken to declare the winners.
Nitu eked out a 5-2 victory over reigning Asian champion Alua Balkibekova of Kazakhstan, while Saweety reached her second World Championships final dispatching Sue-Emma Greentree of Australia 4-3.
In the first bout of the day, Nitu gave the hosts a thunderous start. In a rematch of last year's World Championships quarterfinal, Nitu and Balkibekova went all guns blazing in the first round.
Nitu, who had lost to Balkibekova in the Istanbul edition, learned from her mistakes and adapted well.
She played from close range, throwing Balkibekova off her natural game as the Kazakh prefers to box from a distance.
But Balkibekova still managed to maintain her dominance to take the round 3-2.
In the final two rounds, Nitu persisted with her strategy and was able to land clean hooks and jabs, but Balkibekova kept making things difficult for the Indian.
Balkibekova, last edition's silver medallist, repeatedly resorted to body blows and clinching tactics.
The final three minutes were a tense affair. It was the first time in the tournament that Nitu was playing the third round, and the closeness of the contest saw the bout go into a review.
"I played from a distance last time (in Istanbul), so I was not able to recover. This time I played from close range," Nitu said after the bout.
"I had to play with my mind and adapt. I can see improvement in myself. Earlier I used to play a counter-attacking game from a distance but now I can adapt according to the situation." Nitu will now take on the Asian Championships bronze medallist Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg of Mongolia in the final on Saturday.
Reigning 52kg champion Nikhat, who is competing in the 50kg category, used her speed and tactical acumen to see off Valencia to keep alive the defence of her title.
Fighting a formidable opponent, who beat the legendary Mary Kom at the Tokyo Olympics, Nikhat came well prepared and had her strategy sorted.
Nikhat attacked in the opening two rounds and once she dominated the first six minutes, she started to defend.
The unanimous decision win is a testament to Nikhat's skill and physical fitness as the Telangana boxer had to fight five bouts, including three back-to-back ones, to reach the final.
"Today's bout was my best. I feel like I play better when I face technical boxers. I have played her before and she's an experienced boxer. It was a clean game," Nikhat said.
Two-time Asian champion Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam now stands between Nikhat and her dream of winning a second Worlds gold.
After two bronze medals, Lovlina was third-time lucky as she changed the colour of her medal with a scintillating win.
The Indian threw punches at her fellow Olympic medallist in bursts. The tall Lovlina attacked and counter-attacked, keeping Qian guessing about her strategy.
"I used to think I have a psychological problem that's why I can't go beyond the bronze. But, today, that has changed," Lovlina said.
"I played from afar in the first round and then attacked and counter-attacked. I also defended as I wanted to confuse my opponent." Lovlina will play Australia's Caitlin Parker in the final on Sunday, while Saweety will take on Wang Lina of China.

HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth Exit Swiss Open In Second Round
World No. 9 and fifth seed H S Prannoy made a stunning second-round exit from the Swiss Open Super 300 badminton tournament after losing in straight games against unseeded Christo Popov of France on Thursday. Prannoy, favourite coming into the contest, looked a pale shadow of himself in front of world No. 40 Popov as he failed to give any fight, losing 8-21, 8-21 to bow out of the men's singles event. It turned out to be a bad in office for Indian shuttlers as Kidambi Srikanth was the first to crash out on Thursday, losing to Hong Kong's Cheuk Yiu Lee.
Going by rankings, there was hardly anything to separate the two as Srikanth is placed 20th in the world as against his rival's 19th position.
It was a hard-fought match, but Lee kept his composure to emerge 22-20, 21-17 winner in the singles pre-quarterfinal contest.
National champion Mithun Manjunath also bowed out in the second round, losing 19-21, 10-21 to Chia Hao Lee of Chinese Taipei.
On Wednesday night, Prannoy had defeated All England Championships finalist Shi Yu Qi of China to storm into the men's singles pre-quarterfinals.
Two-time Olympic medallist and fourth seed PV Sindhu made a positive start to her title defence on Wednesday, beating Jenjira Stadelmann of Switzerland 21-9, 21-16 in a lopsided opening round women's singles match.
Sindhu will take on 20-year-old Indonesian Putri Kusuma Wardani, who was part of the gold medal-winning team of the 2022 Asia Team Championships, in her second-round match.
Second-seeded men's pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will face the Taiwanese pair of Fang-Chih Lee and Fang-Jen Lee.

Manchester United Owners Await Revised Offers For Premier League Giants
Manchester United's owners were Thursday awaiting fresh bids from a Qatari banker and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe after the deadline passed for revised offers to buy the Premier League giants. Reports said bidders were initially told they had until 2100 GMT on Wednesday to submit new bids, but that has now been extended. It is unclear when the new cut-off will be. Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the chairman of Qatar Islamic Bank, and Ratcliffe, the founder of chemicals giant INEOS, are the only bidders who have gone public with their intentions.
A first round of bidding took place last month and it has been reported there are as many as eight separate potential investors for the club owned by the American Glazer family, who are deeply unpopular with United supporters.
The BBC said several other proposed investors made their submissions by the Wednesday deadline.
No figures have been revealed but one or more of the initial bids was understood to be in the region of 4.5 billion pounds ($5.5 billion).
That would make Manchester United -- who have not won the Premier League for a decade -- the most expensive sports club in history, although it would be short of the 6 billion pounds valuation reportedly placed on United by the Glazers.
United's owners announced in November they were conducting a strategic review, with the sale of the club one option being considered.
Sheikh Jassim is bidding for 100 percent control, aiming to return the club to its "former glories".
A source close to Sheikh Jassim's bid told AFP he remains confident his bid is "the best for the club, fans and local community".
'Stupid prices'
INEOS chemical company founder Ratcliffe, a boyhood United fan, wants to buy the combined Glazer shareholding of 69 percent of the 20-time English champions.
The 70-year-old told the Wall Street Journal this week he was not interested in paying "stupid prices" in a bidding war for one of football's most iconic clubs.
Ratcliffe, who already owns French club Nice, said his interest in United would be "purely in winning things", calling the club a "community asset", rather than a financial one.
The Glazers have angered many United fans by saddling the club with huge debts since they took over in 2005. They appeared ready to cash out at an enormous profit when they invited external investment in November.
However, they could yet shun the option of selling a controlling stake in the club, with other parties understood to be interested in a minority shareholding.
Ratcliffe visited Old Trafford last week along with INEOS representatives, a day after a delegation from Sheikh Jassim's group toured the club's stadium and training ground.
A Qatari purchase of United would boost the sporting profile of the Gulf state months after it hosted the 2022 World Cup, but it would also be controversial.
Sheikh Jassim is the son of a former Qatari prime minister, raising concerns over the potential growth of state influence in the Premier League.
Premier League champions Manchester City's fortunes have been transformed since a takeover from Sheikh Mansour, a member of Abu Dhabi's ruling family, in 2008.
In 2021, the Saudi sovereign wealth fund bought a controlling stake in Newcastle.
Amnesty International has called on the Premier League to tighten ownership rules to ensure they are "not an opportunity for more sportswashing".
If Sheikh Jassim's bid succeeds, it would also raise the question of whether Qatar is shifting its attentions away from Paris Saint-Germain, currently home to the trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, who were bought by Qatari investors in 2011.
United, three-time European champions, have not won the Premier League since Alex Ferguson led them to a 20th English title in his final season before retiring in 2013.
But they are enjoying a renaissance under Erik ten Hag's management this season and ended a six-year trophy drought by lifting the League Cup last month.

Bangladesh Thrash Dismal Ireland By 10 wickets To Win Series 2-0
Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal breezed past Ireland's dismal 101-run total in less than 14 overs for Bangladesh's first-ever 10-wicket win, sealing a 2-0 series victory during Thursday's final one-day-international in Sylhet. Liton was unbeaten on 50 alongside Tamim with 41, both untroubled by an Irish bowling attack that served up 10 wides and a leg bye. Pacer Hasan Mahmud claimed his maiden five-wicket ODI haul while conceding only 32 runs after the tourists elected to bat first.
Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain also shone with the ball to claim 3-26 and 2-29 respectively, with Ireland recording the lowest one-day score against Bangladesh.
"The way we played the whole series was very nice. Now I can proudly say we have a solid, solid, solid fast-bowling department," said skipper Tamim, according to Cricinfo.
"We need to keep believing in our players, there will be ups and downs but we have the unit to be the best in the world," he said.
"The wicket was very good, the way we chased down with authority was a message."
Curtis Campher top-scored with 36, while Lorcan Tucker made 28 after surviving a golden duck when Liton dropped his catch at slip.
"We're very disappointed. Don't think the cricket over the past three days reflects the type of cricket we've played in the last 2-3 years," said Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie.
"We did expect spin to play a big part, but our defence with the bat wasn't good enough. We did not adapt well enough."
Hasan struck in his opening spell to leave Ireland tottering at 22-3 in the ninth over.
Taskin then removed Balbirnie for six before Tucker turned up the aggression to hit Ebadot for three fours in one over.
Ebadot soon had his revenge, taking two wickets in two balls, and Taskin sealed Ireland's collapse with a double strike in his seventh over.
Bangladesh won Saturday's opener by 183 runs, with Monday's second match washed out by rain.
The drubbing was Bangladesh's first 10-wicket win in any format, with the hosts smashing records in each match.
Saturday's opener marked their biggest ODI victory margin.
Then on Monday they recorded their highest ODI total with 349-6, Mushfiqur Rahim scoring the fastest ODI century by a Bangladeshi batsman by smashing his ton off 60 balls.
Ireland will also play three Twenty20 internationals and a Test during their visit.

Anirudh Thapa On Target As India Beat Myanmar 1-0 In Tri-Nation Opener
Anirudh Thapa struck in the added time of the first half to hand India a 1-0 win over Myanmar in the opening match of the Tri-Nation International Football Tournament, in Imphal on Wednesday. The scoreline should have been bigger considering the fact that India dominated the share of possession, but missed chances combined with the luck factor kept the victory margin at the bare minimum for the hosts.
Indian wingers Bipin Singh and Lallianzuala Chhangte looked lively from the start, as they made repeated inroads into the opposition third.
Sunil Chhetri had an early look in, as he headed a cross by Thapa over the crossbar. The India captain had another chance from a flag kick at the far post, but the effort produced the same result.
Local boy Jeakson Singh, playing a holding role, stood up to his task, nipping Myanmar attacks in the bud.
Chhetri had a golden chance just a little over the half-hour mark, when Chhangte played him in, but his shot from close range went straight into the keeper's gloves.
Minutes later, India 'keeper Amrinder Singh kept the scores level at the other end, when he put his big gloves in the way to keep away Aung Thu's effort.
The Blue Tigers finally found the breakthrough they were looking for during the injury time of the first half as Thapa latched on to a stray rebound inside the box and smashed it past the keeper from close range.
India head coach Igor Stimac decided to give more reason for the Imphal crowd to cheer, as he brought on Suresh Wangjam instead of Mohammad Yasir in the second half. Soon after, local boy Mahesh Singh got his debut as he and Manvir Singh replaced Bipin Singh and Chhangte.
India thought they had added another goal to their tally with little over quarter of an hour of regulation time left when Chhetri poked in a Thapa cross, but he ruled offside.
The India captain had a crack at the rival goal just minutes later, but it was saved by the opposition keeper.
As the clock wore down, Ritwik Das was given his debut.
Das and Roshan Singh replaced Akash Mishra and Thapa. Seconds before the final whistle, the Myanmar goal had a close shave when Suresh's shot was saved by the custodian.

Delhi Capitals beat UP Warriorz By 5 Wkts, Qualify Directly For WPL Final
Alice Capsey produced a fabulous all-round display, snaring three wickets and smashing a 31-ball 34 as Delhi Capitals thrashed UP Warriorz by five wickets to directly qualify for the final of the Women's Premier League here on Tuesday. Chasing a 139-run target, built around Tahila McGrath's 32-ball unbeaten 58, DC romped home scoring 142 for five in 17.5 overs to finish at the top of the table, toppling Mumbai Indians on the basis of better net run rate. With Delhi grabbing a direct spot in the final, Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz will now face off in the eliminator for the other final spot.
"Just wanted the team to win and help the unit. I don't think we were at our best. We were sloppy on the field. It was a reasonable wicket. We got off to a flier and helped us when it started to turn," DC skipper Meg Lanning said.
"It seemed it came nicely with the new ball. They bowled a fair bit of spin towards the back end. We got some depth in batting. We have one big game to go. Hopefully, we will nail that." MI had defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by four wickets earlier in the day, leaving DC with the task of not only winning against UPW but also maintaining a better run-rate to directly book their final spot.
Meg Lanning and Co did just that as they restricted UPW to a modest 138 for six after winning the toss and opting to bowl.
Chasing, the opening pair of Lanning and Shafali Verma then went on a boundary hitting spree as they knocked off 56 runs off 29 balls.
If Lanning set the ball rolling with three fours and a six in a 20-run first over off Shabnim Ismail, Shafali had four hits to the fence in her 16-ball 21-run cameo.
Once Shafali was holed out to Soppadhandi Yashasri off Sophie Ecclestone's bowling, Ismail returned to trap Jemimah Rodrigues and then removed Lanning, who was caught by Simran Shaikh in the deep, as suddenly DC slumped to 70 for three.
UPW tried to tighten the screws but Capsey produced three boundaries in four balls off Ecclestone to keep DC in the hunt.
Parshavi Chopra was then deposited over the fence before Capsey slog swept Deepti Sharma past the mid-wicket area for another boundary as DC brought up their 100 in 12 overs.
Marizanne Kapp (34 not out off 31) smashed another maximum as DC reached 130 for three in 16 overs.
Ecclestone managed to sent back Capsey after two balls, while a mix-up cost Jess Jonassen's wicket but Kapp kept her cool to hit the winning runs.
Earlier, McGrath blasted eight boundaries and two sixes after skipper Alyssa Healy (36 off 34) provided the platform to push UP Warriorz's total closer to the 140-mark.
Capsey scalped three quick wickets conceding just seven runs in her first three overs but McGrath changed her bowling figures with a 19-run blitz in the final over.
For DC, Radha Yadav (2/28) and Jess Jonassen (1/24) were the other wicket takers.
Shweta Sehrawat provided UPW a flying start as she hit four boundaries during her 12-ball 19 before being dismissed in the fifth over.
Healy then took over, even as new batter Simran Shaikh struggled to find the gaps.
Healy cracked a six off Radha in the eighth over, before using her feet against Shikha Pandey for a boundary but she lacked rhythm.
Looking to break the shackles, Healy was stumped in the 10th over when she danced down to Capsey.
The Delhi bowlers kept a good line and length and soon Simran's struggle was over when she was caught by Rodrigues.
McGrath then slowly built her innings but kept losing partners from the other end.
She smashed three boundaries as the 14th over yielded 14 runs.
Jess Jonassen then had Kiran Navgire stumped, while Capsey deceived Deepti Sharma with a flighted delivery as Tania Bhatia took off the bails in a flash.
Bhatia was kept busy as next it was the turn of Sophie Ecclestone, who too was stumped after she tried to use her feet as UPW slipped to 105 for six in 18 overs.
McGrath clobbered Jonassen for a four and six in the last two balls of the 19th over before repeating the treatment to Capsey, who conceded two fours and a six as UPW finished things on a high.

ODI World Cup 2023 To Begin On October 5, Final On November 19: Report
The 2023 ODI World Cup will start on October 5 with the final taking place on November 19, according to a report on ESPNCricinfo. The report further stated that the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has shortlisted around 12 venues for the tournament and the final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The other venues are - Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamshala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot and Mumbai. The competition will have 48 matches across 46 days with 10 teams fighting it out for the coveted trophy.
While the report stated the list for the main venues, the board is expected to announce 2-3 more venues for warm-up matches ahead of the tournament. The main factor behind the choices will be the chances of rain and the presence of infrastructure needed to get the field ready in time.
While the fixtures for World Cups are generally announced one year in advance, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is still waiting to understand the situation surrounding the visa situation of Pakistan cricketers and the tax exemptions on offer from the Indian government.
As part of an agreement signed by the BCCI and ICC, a tax exemption was promised for three tournaments from 2016 to 2023. The report claimed that the BCCI was “obligated” to help the ICC (along with other commercial entities involved with the tournament) with tax waivers.
On the other hand, Pakistan cricketers have not travelled to India since 2013 for any tournament but the BCCI made it clear that their visas will be cleared by the Indian government.

WPL: Delhi Capitals Go Atop Table With 9-Wicket Thrashing Of Mumbai Indians
A breathtaking boundary-hitting show after a clinical bowling attack helped Delhi Capitals thrash Mumbai Indians by nine wickets to jump to the top of the table in the Women's Premier League on Monday. South African pacer Marizanne Kapp (2/13) struck twice in two balls early on to help Delhi restrict Mumbai, who were put in to bat, to a meagre 109 for 8. Shikha Pandey and Jess Jonassen also chipped in with two wickets for DC. Chasing a small total, the top three Delhi batters of captain Meg Lanning (32 not out off 22 balls), Shafali Verma (33 off 15 balls) and Alice Capsey (38 not out of 18 balls) competed among themselves in hitting boundaries as their side chased down the target with 66 balls remaining.
Lanning struck four boundaries and one six during her unbeaten knock, while her opening partner Verma hit six fours and one six. One-down Capsey then hoisted five sixes and one four during her blitzkrieg to take Delhi to 110 for one in nine overs.
Already in the play-offs before Monday's match, Delhi and Mumbai now have 10 points from seven matches each. But Delhi are ahead on net run rate -- plus 1.978 as against plus 1.725 of Mumbai.
Delhi face UP Warriorz -- who also have qualified for the play-offs -- on Tuesday, while Mumbai take on Royal Challengers Bangalore -- who are out of reckoning -- on the same day.
Tuesday's matches will decide which team tops the table and directly qualifies for the final. The second and third place teams will play the eliminator.
Defending a small total, Mumbai needed early wickets but Delhi openers Lanning and Shafali denied them any breakthrough till the fifth over when the latter was out for 33 off just 15 balls. Verma hit six fours -- including three in the second over bowled by Issy Wong -- and one six during her aggressive innings.
Lanning, who began with two fours in the first over, then took upon herself to chase down the target in a jiffy. She hoisted Wong for a six in the last ball of the powerplay.
Capsey then took over as she punished Hayley Matthews with three sixes in the seventh over before hitting Saika Ishaque to end the match.
Earlier, invited to bat in the top-of-the-table clash, Mumbai were reduced to 10 for 3 in 3.3 overs with Kapp (2/13) fetching wickets off consecutive deliveries in the third over, and they never recovered from there.
Pooja Vastrakar top-scored for Mumbai with a 26 while captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Issy Wong contributed 23 each.
The 37-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Kaur and Vastrakar was the highest for Mumbai.
Kapp first forced Yastika Bhatia (1) to edge an in-swinging delivery to wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia before knocking off Nat Sciver-Brunt's stumps the next ball for a first ball duck.
Kapp could not complete a hat-trick as Kaur defended solidly. But, Mumbai suffered another jolt as Hayley Matthews (5) fell the next over with the lively Jemimah Rodrigues taking a stunning one-handed catch at mid-on off the bowling of Shikha Pandey.
Mumbai were in tatters at 10 for 3 in the fourth over and they crawled to their lowest powerplay total of 19 for 3, before another blow struck them.
Introduced in the seventh over, Arundhati Reddy struck in her fifth ball, dismissing Amelia Kerr, who offered a loose shot into the hands of Bhatia behind the stumps as Mumbai wickets continued to tumble.
Vastrakar then struck a six and a four out of the blue as Mumbai took 18 runs from the 10th over to reach 46 for 4 at the halfway mark.
With Kaur needing to play sheet-anchor, Vastrakar was given the task to take risks and she had another couple of boundaries in the next over. But her stay was cut short with Jonassen dismissing her in the 12th over for 26.
Runs were hard to come by and even an in-form Kaur could not force the pace of Mumbai innings. She had a soft dismissal, trying to find a boundary with Jemimah taking the catch at deep midwicket.
Mumbai were 74 for 6 when Kaur was out and they added 35 runs in the last five overs to go past the 100-run mark.

"No Indian Bats Like Me": Sehwag. Reveals Two Players Who "Come Close"
No Indian opener has been able to replicate the clean hitting prowess of the great Virender Sehwag. Not only has he got two triple-centuries, his daredevilry with the bat made him an entertaining watch too. He was also part of India's 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup-winning teams. He played 104 Tests (8586 runs), 251 ODIs (8273 runs) and 19 T20Is (394 runs). He played his last match for India in March, 2013 against Australia. Now, Sehwag has revealed that in the current generation no Indian batter plays like him.
"I don't think so there is any player in the Indian team who bats like me. The two players who came to my mind who have come close to it are Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant. I think Rishabh Pant is a little bit close to what I used to bat like in Test cricket but he is satisfied with 90-100 but I used to get satisfied with 200, 250 and 300. If he took his game to that level then I think he can entertain the fans even more," Sehwag said during News18 India Chaupal.
Recently, Sehwag commented on the frequent injuries suffered by the players of the senior men's national cricket team. He felt that the weightlifting exercises often play a major role in the injury of the players, adding that the exercise has no role in cricket. Sehwag said that the players should focus more on their game rather than going for weightlifting. He feels that the Indian players nowadays are getting injured in the gym, not on the ground.
It is worth highlighting that the exercise has been quite popular nowadays among cricket players in a bid to build a strong physique.
"There is no place for weightlifting in cricket. Instead, you should do the exercises that improve your game. Weightlifting will give you strength, but will also increase stiffness and soreness. In our days, Aakash Chopra, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, MS Dhoni, or Yuvraj Singh, nobody were ruled out due to back, hamstring, or quadricep injuries," said Sehwag on 'The Ranveer Show'.

Bakayo Saka Stars As Rampant Arsenal Move Eight Points Clear
Arsenal surged eight points clear at the top of the Premier League as Bukayo Saka's brace inspired a 4-1 rout of Crystal Palace on Sunday. Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring in the first half at the Emirates Stadium to put the leaders on course for a sixth successive league victory. It was redemption for Martinelli, whose missed penalty condemned Arsenal to Europa League last 16 defeat in their shoot-out against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday. Mikel Arteta's side needed just 45 minutes against struggling Palace to erase the bitter taste of that loss. Saka followed Martinelli's goal by doubling Arsenal's lead before half-time.
Granit Xhaka netted the third after the interval and Jeff Schlupp's reply was no consolation as the influential Saka's second capped Arsenal's stylish display.
Arsenal now have a substantial eight-point lead over second placed Manchester City, who took the weekend off from Premier League duty to thrash Burnley in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.
With a game in hand on Arsenal and a crucial clash with the Gunners looming on April 26, Pep Guardiola's champions will still believe they can win a fifth title in six seasons.
But heading into the international break, Arsenal have ensured the fate of the title race will be in their hands in the final 10 games.
"I'm really pleased with the way we reacted after the Sporting game. We showed a lot of determination," Arteta said.
"It feels very good, especially with the way we have played and the results we have picked up.
"The desire and energy impressed me. They must come back from the international break with the same mindset they had before."
Arteta reserved special praise for Saka, who is the first player to reach at least 10 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League this season.
"The whole team did really well but Bukayo was really good today, affecting the result with his contribution," he said.
"That is what we need. We need our front players firing and making the difference and today they did that again."
After surrendering top spot with a defeat against City in February, Arsenal have responded impressively, showing a maturity and composure far beyond the Gunners' teams that routinely underachieved in recent years.
Arteta deserves immense credit for transforming a side that blew their top four place last season.
Less than a year later, Arsenal, the first English side ever to win nine London derbies in a single season, have the look of champions elect.
Arteta had labelled the Palace clash as the most important match of his managerial career and his players once again rose to the challenge.
They had the ideal opponents in a Palace team now without a win in their 13 matches in 2023 and reeling from Friday's sacking of boss Patrick Vieira.
Vieira was a key member of the last title-winning Arsenal side 19 years ago and Gunners fans chanted his name throughout the game.
Arsenal made the breakthrough in the 28th minute when Saka wriggled free in the penalty area to collect Ben White's pass and pulled his cross back to Martinelli.
The Brazilian forward took a clever touch to elude Joel Ward before driving a clinical finish past Joe Whitworth from 12 yards for his sixth goal in his last eight appearances.
Saka ensured Arsenal's relentless pressure paid dividends again in the 43rd minute.
He played the ball back to White and his return pass was perfectly weighted for the England forward, who planted a cool finish into the far corner from close-range.
Arsenal were rampant and Xhaka put the result beyond doubt in the 55th minute.
A sumptuous exchange of passes around the Palace area left the visitors bewildered before Xhaka applied a deft finishing touch to Leandro Trossard's through-ball.
Schlupp stabbed in Palace's first league goal in nearly seven hours after Arsenal failed to clear a 63rd minute corner.
But Saka had the last word with his 13th goal this season, a fine first-time finish from Kieran Tierney's 74th minute pass.

ATKMB Crowned ISL Champions After Penalty Shootout Win Over Bengaluru FC
ATK Mohun Bagan held their nerves in a tightly contested Indian Super League final to beat Bengaluru FC 4-3 on penalties and lift their maiden title in Goa on Saturday. In a game that ended 2-2 in regulation time, ATKMB's Dimitri Petratos scored all three penalties he took on the night before Vishal Kaith's save from Bruno Ramires' in the shootout brought them one step closer. Bengaluru FC's Pablo Perez then sent his spot-kick over the bar as the Mariners sealed the result in a game where they had unsettled Bengaluru FC right from the start. Bengaluru FC were forced into bringing Sunil Chhetri early on after Sivasakthi Narayanan was stretchered off in the opening seconds of the match.
Things went further away from plan in the 13th minute when Krishna handled the ball from a Petratos corner as ATKMB were awarded a penalty. Petratos finished the job from the spot to put his team in front.
ATKMB made use of this advantage to put pressure on Bengaluru FC, who picked up a glut of yellow cards on the pitch and one off it for head coach Simon Grayson.
But in the final minute of first-half stoppage time, they were given a way back when Bose missed the ball and made contact with Krishna while attempting a clearance. Chhetri stepped up to take the penalty and sent Kaith the wrong way to restore parity.
In the final quarter of the game, Rohit's shot from the edge of the box created a series of corners, before a deflection found Krishna at the far post, and the striker nodded it home in the 78th minute.
But five minutes from time, the game was all square again. At the edge of the Bengaluru FC box, Kiyan Nassiri went down after a nudge from Perez as ATKMB won their second penalty of the evening. Petratos was on hand to score again.
In the third minute of stoppage time, Asish Rai's goal bound shot was cleared off the line by Prabir Das. Moments later, Colaco and Nassiri almost combined to score, but Bruno Ramires provided the crucial interception as the game went into extra time.
Udanta Singh and Rohit failed to hit the target in their respective attempts in extra time, while Manvir missed from a few yards out for ATKMB.
Towards the end of extra time, Sandhu spilled Petratos' long-range strike, but it bounced out for a corner that led to nothing before the game headed into penalties.
In the nervy penalty shoot-out, Golden Glove winner Kaith stepped up for his team for the second game in a row, while no one missed from the spot in a game dictated by penalties throughout.
As the winners, ATKMB took home a prize money of Rs 6 crore, while runners-up Bengaluru FC received Rs 2.5 crore.
